Warehouse CCTV in Dubai — Why Standard Systems Are Not Enough
Warehouses in Dubai have some of the most demanding CCTV requirements of any property type. Large open floor areas, high racking, loading docks, staff entrances, perimeter fencing, and 24/7 operations all require a surveillance system designed specifically for industrial use — not the same cameras sold for homes and offices.
Mideatek has installed CCTV in warehouses across Al Quoz Industrial Area, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Investment Park, Dubai South, Al Quoz 1–4, and DAFZA. Here is what you need to know.
Key Security Challenges for Dubai Warehouses
- Large floor areas: A 5,000 m² warehouse floor cannot be covered with standard dome cameras — you need long-range bullet cameras or PTZ units on elevated mounting points
- High racking / blind spots: Tall racking creates visibility blind spots. Cameras must be positioned above rack height or at the end of aisles
- Loading dock theft: The loading bay during shift changes and truck loading/unloading is the highest-risk area for stock shrinkage
- Perimeter security: Outdoor perimeter fencing, vehicle gates, and container yards require long-range cameras with reliable night vision
- Staff monitoring: Time-stamped footage for HR compliance and investigation of stock discrepancies
- Vehicle entry / ANPR: Logging all trucks, vans, and vehicles entering and leaving the facility
Recommended CCTV Setup for Dubai Warehouses
Indoor Warehouse Floor
- PTZ cameras on elevated mounts: For large open floor areas, 2–4 PTZ cameras on 6m columns provide 360° coverage and can zoom in on specific rack locations or staff activities
- Fixed bullet cameras at aisle ends: Cover each main aisle with a 4MP bullet camera. For a 12-aisle warehouse, this means 12 cameras for full aisle coverage.
- Fisheye dome at entrance/reception: Complete 360° coverage of the warehouse entrance and office area with one camera
Loading Dock and Goods-In/Out Area
- 4MP cameras with WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) to handle the contrast between bright exterior and darker indoor dock areas
- One camera per loading bay door covering the full bay area
- Overhead camera covering the goods-in counter for detailed recording of all incoming stock
Outdoor Perimeter and Vehicle Gate
- Long-range bullet cameras: 4MP cameras with 50–100m IR range mounted on perimeter fence posts or building corners
- ANPR camera at vehicle gate: Records every vehicle number plate entering and leaving. Integrated with gate barrier system and linked to your logistics/fleet management software
- PTZ on the roof: For large yard areas or container storage — one PTZ on the roofline can cover the entire vehicle yard
Staff Areas — Canteen, Locker Room Corridor, Time-Attendance
- Standard 2MP dome cameras in staff areas (not in locker rooms or prayer rooms — privacy compliance)
- Camera covering the time-attendance terminal for fraud prevention
NVR and Storage for Warehouses
Warehouses typically need 32–64 channel NVR systems with substantial storage. A 50-camera system recording 24/7 at 1080p requires approximately 20–30TB for 30 days of footage. We recommend a RAID-configured NVR in a dedicated server room or security cabinet for redundancy.
SIRA Compliance for Dubai Warehouses
All commercial and industrial properties in Dubai require SIRA-approved CCTV. For warehouses, SIRA requirements include:
- Minimum 4MP resolution (2MP for indoor staff areas)
- 30 days minimum recording
- SIRA-approved installer and technical drawings
- For JAFZA and DIP: additional free zone authority compliance may apply
